REMISSION!

With Nikki's strength, chemo, prayer, blessings from God - Nikki is in remission! Today she undergoes her final chemo treatment. These are huge steps in her life, and we are blessed to be part of them and humbled at how fragile - yet resilient - life is! So, here are the latest and greatest updates, and I apologize for not getting them here sooner:

- The fundraiser ended June 30th. Nikki did receive the donations sent by all of you wonderful, lovely people. Every bit helps! And we are eternally grateful for all you have done, in whatever form the doing took place!
- Of course the girls are planning a huge celebration at the Palmer Park Arboretum on September 4, 2010 at 11 AM! Friends and family are encouraged to come and celebrate with us! The pavilion nearest the corner of Maizeland and Academy Blvd has been reserved for the party. Bring lawn chairs and drinks, and if you'd like to contribute a side dish or dessert to the pot luck, please do!
-The Girls For Nikki are also planning to do Walk for the Cure! The walk will take place here in Colorado Springs on September 12, 2010, at Garden of the Gods. The girls are currently talking about starting up Team Nikki for the walk. For more information on the Susan G. Koman Walk event and others here in the Springs, please visit http://secolorado.info-komen.org/site/TR/RacefortheCure/COS_SoutheasternColoradoAffiliate?fr_id=1822&pg=entry

Have a wonderful day!

90 Percent and Rising?

The initial goal for our fundraiser ends in late June, can we make or even exceed it by then? I think we can! Nikki is doing phenomenally, and we know it's in part because she's got so many people who love, pray and help her each day. Her inner light, faith and natural resiliency are things to aspire to.

Those of us who have never had to fight the beast called Cancer likely cannot relate to the struggle of just staying strong enough to face another day of worries, waits, tests, treatments, pain, sleeplessness and the fear that the strength of will may fade away one day. It's critical at this time when those of us who are not burdened with the physical toll and the constant fear pour our strength and hope into people struggling, like Nikki. Prayer, time, and assistance are the gifts we can give, and we should as long as we can.

Money is a tool to pay for medicine, food and other material necessities in this world - Nikki needs it for herself and her family, especially now. As long as we work together and understand our own limitations, our cumulative assistance will be plentiful and priceless. Prayer for the spirit, money for earthly needs, support for strength.

God Bless and have a wonderful Memorial Day!

Sincerely,
Amy Savidge - on behalf of The Girls For Nikki

The Tech Side of Donating

Hello everyone!

We have discovered an issue some people have encountered while trying to donate through GiveForward.

Using Mozilla Firefox to access the donation page is probably not the best way to go. It seems that Mozilla doesn't want to play nice with GiveForward's donation interface. So we suggest using Internet Explorer. Donating while using IE presents no problems at all. Just remember to follow directions carefully and take your time so mistakes are avoided.

Thank you all so much!

Sincerely,
The Girls For Nikki

G.I. Amy Revealed

My son, Theodore, cut off the braided lock of hair and helped to cut the majority of hair from my head with scissors. This lock will be given to Nikki. My husband helped me start the shave, and I finished the rest. This cause is worth every hair on my head, and I will admit, it's nice being able to start over. Thank you all so much! God Bless! -- Amy

Stronger Every Day

As of March 28th, 2010, The Girls For Nikki have raised $255.00 for Nikki and her family! That is just over 25% of our goal! Considering that the fundraiser has only been operational for 5 days, this is an amazing turnout!

Nikki has been positive and open about what she has been going through, and she has been expressing so much appreciation for the people supporting her. You can catch Nikki on Facebook, so if you don't already have a Facebook account go and get one now :)

Do you have a BC survivor story of your own you would like to share? Perhaps some photos of you and Nikki that you would like to embarrass her with? Hehehe... :) You can send these and more to our email address at for.nikki2010@gmail.com. We will be glad to post your submission here on the TGFN blog!

Keep it up! Tell your friends and family about our "little" cause and have a wonderful day!

Sincerely,
The Girls For Nikki

For the $1000.00 Goal!

As an incentive for reaching the $1000.00 donation goal, Nikki's best friends Sherry Florian, Jennifer Owens and Stacy Pritchard will all get tattoos implementing the Pink Ribbon in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness!

It all adds up in the end! $5.00 or $500.00, it doesn't matter. Your support for Nikki and her family shines through in whatever way you decide to participate.

Thank you all so much and have a wonderful evening!
